Hall of Fame - Absolute Must Have: Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream

I love it when I stumble across a product that over-performs and becomes a staple in my skincare wardrobe.

This is one of those times.

I bought this in New York this Summer and have literally used it night and day since. It ran out yesterday morning (gutted - although it did remind me to blog about it) and I am DEFINITELY repurchasing.

When I bought it I thought it would be 'interesting' as it said it was for combination/sensitive skin and particularly good for acne. Well that Kate Somerville - she NO LIE.

What's in it?
Goat Milk - lactose being the key part of this inci - gently exfoliates but maintains the PH balance of the skin
Coconut and Jojoba - moisturising without clogging pores
Grape Seed for antioxidant purposes
Witch Hazel - anti-bacterial
Avocado - nourishing
Rosemary - anti-bacterial and toning
Neem - healing and anti-bacterial
Black Willow Bark - antimicrobial - same properties of salicylic acid which kills the germ specific to acne

What's good about it?
It works. Straight to the point I know, but it soothes redness so is suitable for sensitivity as well as acne-prone skins and is also cooling upon application.
The instances of red cyst-like acne lumps on my face almost ceased entirely. I had a couple show themselves at that time of the month but that was it.
Absorbs nicely. Skin feels comfortable with no residual tackiness.
Comes in a completely air-tight pump action pot that dispenses just the right amount and also stays germ-free.
It's 80% organic. Who knew?

What's bad about it?
Not widely available in the UK. Only available in selected SpaceNK stores.
The $ versus £ price is as per usual, favourable to buying in the USA.

That's it.

If you have redness, sensitivity, acne or combination skin, I highly, highly recommend this product.

Kate Somerville is available in selected SpaceNK stores and online at and is £51.00 for 50ml.

Small print: no PR's were harmed during the making of this post. My money bought it and will repurchase it. Happily.

  1. hmm sounds interesting, would love to give it a try if i ever see it :D

  2. I've never tried anything with goats milk in it but this sounds amazing. Too bad it's not sold in Aus

    1. hey :) this is actually sold in Mecca Cosmetica now!

  3. I've tried to get hold of this as I loved this review but Space NK say that this has been discontinued??!!
    is there an alternative?

  4. I have a jar of this on the way, and am very excited to try it - I have dry, sensitive skin and am VERY fussy about textures and the feel of creams on my skin. I also have a pet goat and am a Capricorn, and therefore enjoy goat imagery on my beauty products:)

  5. This sounds great! I'm going to pick up some when I run out of my current moisturizer.

  6. Hi Caroline! Where can I find this cream in the UK?

  7. Thank you Caroline for this recommendation. have been using it regularly and its worked wonders for my broken red capillaries.

  8. Doesn't appear to be available at SpaceNK (at least online) anymore. I am gutted as I really wanted to try this.

  9. would you recommend this for day wear during summer on oily skin?

    1. Caroline, I have the same question I have combo skin, oily t zone and acne and congestion prone. Would this be ok to use during the day and/or night?

If not night, what would you recommend during the nighttime. I still havent nailed down a moisturizer I was trying a few different ones by bioderma and la roche and they seem to cause breakouts.

  10. I'm in Canada at the moment and so recently placed a Kate Somerville order, with this being one of the things I bought! Problem is, I can't decide whether to keep it myself or be a good daughter and give it to my Mum!!

  11. Would this be any good for someone who is allergic to lactose in milk? Lactose give me dry skin.. Or is this different?

  12. I really wanted to try this but it's just so expensive. I found this company on a Google search The night cream looks quite similar to this, and it's only £12.99 for 100ml.

  13. Hello Caroline ---> would you re-review this? I think the formula has changed and I am bereft. It seems to be a thinner consistency and not as moisturizing. This was my favorite until I opened this new jar recently. Thank you! VK

  14. ^ What she said! The formulation seems to have changed drastically, and not for the better I'm afraid (at least not for my sensitive skin - tightness aplenty now! Gah Kate what have you done!?) Any chance you could revisit this Hall of Famer now that its had a revamp?
