Utterly brilliant BB/CC/Primers that you should check out - Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme CC Cream

I had a major sort last week - included in that was putting all of my BB/CC/Primers to one side and using them EVERYDAMNDAY to give some feedback and actually you know - MAYBE WRITE A REVIEW? I know. Don't faint.

First up is Estee Lauder's Revitalising Supreme CC Cream. Mainly because I used it this morning. Nothing like being organised eh?

I personally tend to fair better with CC creams than BB. Colour correcting is what I need, not blemish balms - but let's be honest, what's in a name?

In their absolute basic form you would expect:
BB creams to have more pigment and coverage.
CC creams to adjust to your skin tone and have more skincare benefits.
Primers to prep the skin for makeup or in some wonderful cases, be enough for the day.

Let's make an executive decision to call ALL of these (and I'm aiming for a review a day until I move on to my next group of products) 'Primer-y-type products that can be worn alone, under a foundation or over a moisturiser'.
Makes everything so much easier doncha think?

The Revitalizing (US spelling!) Supreme CC cream is aimed at an older audience and it's easy to see why. It has much more in the way of anti-ageing benefits, is loaded with hyaluronic acid to give an immediate plumping effect and will colour correct even the reddest of cheeks/noses.

Extremely comfortable to wear and disappears onto the skin with no residue and no residual colour that needs blending. It's actually grey upon application and then the colour beads burst and adjust to your skin. You can't see these in the product - it's a very sophisticated formula.

Suitable for:

Covering blemishes? No.
Evening out skin tone? Yes.
Hydrating/prepping the skin for use under makeup? Yes
Wearing alone without makeup? Yes, if you are having a no-makeup-day.
Heavy on top of moisturiser? No.
Makes you look better than before you used it? Oh YES.

If you are in your 20's this is probably not for you. If you are closer to 30/40/50 upwards, you may love this. A lot. It's a no-brainer.
What I love about this - completely aside from the actual product - is that Lauder describe it as 'non acnegenic' which is a BRILLIANT improvement on 'non-comodegenic', which is literally meaningless. I am totally stealing that word.

Revitalizing CC cream is £40.00 and available at all Estee Lauder stockists.

Bad bad blogger

So much going on and so little time. I can't be the only one that wishes there were more hours in the day?!

My recent efforts at keeping up to date with the blog have been LAME LAME LAME.  I'm SORRY. Really sorry.

I just got back from a birthday break in NY with Mr. Hirons which was amazing - albeit ridiculously tiring. Jetlag is KILLING me right now.

I have also managed to do more filming with Ruth  - hysterical as always.....

Our SPF video is here for your perusal....

Our fake tanning favourites are here....

And our makeup and skincare favourites for July will be live this evening.

I just broke the news to Mum that this video has been seen nearly half a million times...

Which makes us both a little *GAHHHHHH!*

Restarted the Clinic - the next one will be tomorrow evening (Friday) at 8pm. I'll answer as many as I can within the hour.

Thank you for your patience. I have Teen Skin and Pregnancy next on the list for Cheat Sheets. If you have any more suggestions please do let me know in the comments.

SPF Part 2 with Dr Marko Lens

Part Two is up! Look out for an SPF Cheat Sheet and a giveaway from Zelens coming up on the blog.

Thank you for all of your lovely comments so far. And thanks Marko. :)

Coming soon! Effaclar 3-Step Anti-Blemish System

Any brand would love to know how to have as successful a product as Effaclar Duo - the way the product has sprung into the every day chat of beauty people on social media/blogs and in my skin consults is nothing short of extraordinary.

Well, not being fools, La Roche Posay are extending the range to include a brand new kit, designed specifically for problematic skins. The kit contains the current cleanser and Effaclar moisturiser/treatment plus a brand new Clarifying Toner brought in from the Asian arm of the LRP business *hyperventilates* as a new step in the range. The Clarifying Toner contains salicylic and lactic acid as well as two types of zinc (think Serozinc) in a glycerin base. Marvellous. The only catch is that the toner is not available on its own - YET.

I have two kits that I am giving to my (willing participants) testers to be used exclusively for 6 weeks and will report back on their findings during the trial. (Just to be clear - I already have two willing testers. This is not a giveaway opportunity!)

In the meantime the Effaclar 3-Step Anti-Blemish System launches in September via Boots and is priced £29.50.

The wait list opens in two weeks. Brace yourselves for the stampede.

SPF update

I've started answering your questions based on Dr Lens' answers here and the videos (plural at this stage) will be up by the weekend.
I'll try and answer the rest of the questions and get the Cheat Sheet ready by Friday also.

The Return of The Clinic

OH HELLO DEAR READERS THERE YOU ARE WHERE HAVE I BEEN? I KNOW I'M SO SORRY.

Just a gentle reminder of what I look like in case you've been missing me.

So here's the thing: I know my blogging has dropped off the edge of the cliff. I won't bore you with excuses (EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE REALLY VALID OBVIOUSLY) - suffice to say I do not blog full time. I have a day job. Actually it's more like a 60 hours a week kinda deal but I digress and NO-ONE WANTS TO HEAR ALL THAT HIRONS.
I love the day job - and I love my gorgeous, clearly very intelligent readers - so to apologise for not being quite so inyerface as I would like to have been - and to make up for the fact that I am not doing skin consultations at the moment - I am reintroducing the Clinic. I miss talking skin with you all and let's face it - that's why most of you are here. *waves to the odd Duran Duran, Bond or Chili Peppers fan*

So tomorrow evening (Wednesday 16th) at 7pm I will open the Clinic. Seeing as we nearly broke the blog last time I did one, going forward it will take a slightly different format.

  • It won't be answered on a first come, first serve basis.
  • I will only publish questions that I am answering. That way they can be seen and read by everyone.
  • I will try and answer as many diverse questions as possible. They will pop up on the blog as I am answering them.
  • I will leave the comments open until I have answered at least 25 questions. Then I'll need to make more tea.
  • I am also spending all of this evening replying to your comments over the last few weeks.
  • The Clinic won't be the same evening every week but I will give you at least 24 hours notice so you know when it is happening.
  • PLEASE do not try and get your questions in now - I am only publishing ones sent from 7pm onwards tomorrow evening.

I hope this goes some way to making up for my lack of interaction and I look forward to speaking to you all much more regularly! :)

I know waiting for me to blog can sometimes feel as long as waiting for Man Utd to win a game. *runs from Carmen*

Perricone MD Giveaway Winner

The winner of the Perricone MD Giveaway is Joanne O'Sullivan from Cork. Congratulations and thank you to everyone that entered!
Thanks Dr P!

I miss you

I was searching for the Perricone visual to announce the winner and this picture of my Nana with my Mum was next to it. We used it in her funeral booklet. I burst into tears. I miss you so much.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye - the revamp

The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair range is the stuff of legend and is literally guaranteed a spot in any magazines Top Beauty Products - I didn't fall in love with it right away - but literally this time last year Lauder reformulated - and it made a world of difference.

Now they've gone a step further. Last year Estee Lauder scientists made the discovery that catabolysis was badly affected by pollution (ozone) levels in your skin - in layman's terms, pollution is preventing your skin from putting the rubbish (trash) out at night, leaving your skin unable to function at its optimum. The result of which could be why your skin never quite looks fresh, bright and glowing (I need to invent a new word for glow - I know I abuse it).

The new Advanced Night Repair Eye Treatments - both the gel cream and the serum, have now had the ChronoluxCB Technology, discovered by Lauder last year, added to them. You won't feel much difference to your product if you already use it, but in essence, your rubbish men have moved up their collections to nightly, without interruption. Very handy. The result for you (which let's face it, is what we all care about at the end of the day)  is a much clearer, brighter, more hydrated, less tired-looking eye area.
I never say that a cream will fix dark circles - even if a brand makes that claim, because more than the other areas of concern, that's essentially genetics and your body health - and there isn't a cream for that in my opinion (buy an amazing concealer and move on).

Sidebar:
There are a lot of scientific discoveries around at the moment - I've been to 3 launches in the last fortnight alone that include new products hitting the shelves with patented technology and new ingredients etc.. I never get bored of it - some people dismiss it but I am of the thinking that progress is always good. The consumer would be forgiven for thinking that it's another marketing ploy to shift more products but I don't have that concern here. Lauder know what they are doing and have been at the top of their game for a long time. You don't get there without shifting product - and in this day and age that means repeat business and loyal customers. Lauder has both in abundance.

The New Advanced Night Repair Eye Treatments are available nationwide from 21st July at all Estee Lauder stockists and are available online at www.esteelauder.co.uk

Bloglovin and the mystery of the disappearing blog...

Those lovely people that used to follow me on Bloglovin - over 20,000 of you (cries) - may now find that you're not following me anymore. Bloglovin had my blog registered twice - once under BeautyMouth.com and once under CarolineHirons.com. I asked them to amalgamate my accounts last week and they just went ahead and deleted the BeautyMouth feed in its entirety.

Excellent.

So: if you would like to follow me on Bloglovin please look here: PLEASE DON'T DELETE ME AGAIN BLOGLOVIN

That's all! Thank you!
