Suitable for pregnancy?

Natural? Organic? Man made? Vegan?
Vegan, man-made

How does it smell?
It doesn't really have one, it's extremely mild. It smells like skincare, if that makes sense?

How do you use it?
Apply after serums or oils. Under SPF. This is best used however, on top of similar products like hyaluronic acid serums. Lush.

Can it be taken around the eyes?

Best for winter or summer?
Either - whenever you're dehydrated or want an oil-free moisturiser.

How long did I test it for?
A few months.

How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage?
£50.50/$58.00 for 50ml. Should last a couple of months depending on whether you use am or pm, or both.

Works well with?
Hyaluronic acid serums underneath.

What’s the website like?
Brilliant. Loads of info, ingredients, interviews etc.

How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited?
Space NK/Cult Beauty/Sephora etc - not bad

What’s good about it?
I bloody love this moisturiser. Keeping with the hyaluronic acid focus, it's light, yet hydrating. Absorbs beautifully, feels soft on the skin. It's not in any way sticky, and most importantly, it works absolutely brilliantly on top of hyaluronic serums. Skin feels literally cushioned with moisture, probably hence the name..
If you find that your skin needs 'something else', but a heavy moisturiser breaks you out, this might be what you are looking for. It has a teeny bit of glycolic and lactic, and not just as preservative levels, which gently exfoliate (absolutely no sting), thus allowing the HA to penetrate even further. It's not too heavily siliconed, as a lot of oil-free moisturisers are, meaning that you can layer products without the threat of 'rolling'.

What’s not so good about it?
Not much to raise as a negative. It's honestly a lovely moisturiser. If you're super dry, you may need a moisturiser with oil.

Would I purchase/repurchase?
Absolutely. It's a gem.

Do you need it?
Yes. Especially if you are dehydrated, really oily, really confused, really anything to be honest.

  1. After a weekend of too much turkey and cranberry sauce, I fell asleep this afternoon and dreamed you obtained a pied-à-terre for yourself in the center of the city. It was *your* kids. You had a lovely antique white iron multi-level flower pot holder in the living room. Sunny yellow curtains. I didn't get to see your bathroom/skincare setup, though.

  2. Check out, has a Hydration Heroes kit which contains the moisturizer and Alphabeta® Medi-Spa Peel (4 weekly treatments). Plus a free gift of Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Peel - 8 Treatments. Use code "LFCYBER" to get 20% off the order. Free shipping as well. All up I got everything for £49.20, bargain.

  3. Ah, DG does it again! Thanks Caroline for the review.
How do you reckon this compares to the Murad hydro dynamic?

  4. Haven't heard of it before, but I love the idea of something which works particularly well on top of Hyaluronic Acid Serums, which is what I use most of the times!

  5. How would this compare to the murad ultimate moisturiser? That for winter this for summer maybe?

  6. Or will this making an appearance in the Cult Beauty box Sunday? Oh decisions.

  7. This is my moisturiser LOVE IT very basic but does a great job I use this with the Apotcare Hyalu Repair serum which is really good also. Apotcare seems to be a very niche off the radar brand its french and I was recommended it at Mecca Cosmetica in New Zealand. These two combined have done wonders for my skin :) X

  8. Caroline, sorry to perhaps hijack this post, but I'm at my wits end. I keep getting very occasional tiny spots , especially around the eyes, and I don't know what's causing it. They appear overnight. I used Alpha H liquid gold last night, and I wonder if it might be a reaction to that? They aren't spots as such, as they don't come up like acne. They fade and eventually vanish. I'm particularly prone to them under the eyes tho I can get them anywhere on the face. I kwondered if they were blocked pores so have a been religiously cleansing and using acid toners. This began a few years ago. I have never had acne in my life and I'm over 50. This is driving me mad!

  9. Oh I need to try this! Caroline (if you read this) - I recently found the dr Brandt resurfacing retinol in tk maxx reduced from £80 to £16. Thought I had to try it after seeing your post and at that price. After just a few uses my skin is already looking much smoother, but I've had none of the redness, sensitivity or flakiness I've read is part of using retinol. Is this a testiment to the amazingness of this product, or is it a duff from the line and hence the reduced price?? Thanks! X

    1. Not Caroline, but a fellow Retinol user: The retinols you get over the counter are usually in a strength that regular skin can easily take, and there are a few that even sensitive skins can use without irritation (like SR Luna). So you having no reaction is not due to the product not working. I never had any redness or sensitivity from using otc retinol (SR Luna, M.Asam Retinol Youth Serum, Dr. Dennis Gross...), but I got it the second I used a prescription strength retinol from my dermatologist.

  10. Hi Caroline, a friend of mine mentioned that she heard/read Dimethicone may not be such a great ingredient. It may cause cancer and is also not good for those with acne/acne prone skin. It shows up in most of my skincare except for the natural/organic ranges (Tammy Fender and Lavinia Borcau). I was wondering what your thoughts are on this ingredient.

  11. I already own this!!!! YAY! Caroline, I am ahead of the game for once!! Hahahaha

  12. Caroline that would be really helpful since I use your blog as my general skincare bible and wont normally buy any skincare unless it has the Caroline Hirons seal of aproval (please can we make that into a thing as it would make life so much easier!) Updating old posts and strike through updating the comments would be brilliant, however I don't worry that this might be time consuming and take you further away from our YouTube screens since you work do hard already Thank you for all your hard work and flipping amazing advice these past years

  13. I have been using this moisturizer on my retin a ravaged skin. This is the first moisturizer that keeps my skin from drying out by the end of the day. Love it.Thanks for the recommendation, Caroline!
