This is a very short one and ends quite suddenly - newsflash - I'm not Martin Scorsese. :)
ANYROAD: we are definitely filming again and will be collating as many questions as we can and YES I am going to interrogate Sam on her own beauty and makeup routine.
I will also remove the bottle of handwash from behind Dr Sam's head. I laugh every time I see it. At least it shows we were so engrossed in content that we didn't even notice it!
I recently posted about retinoids. One of the most important things you can do for your skin!
ReplyDeleteWhat about tazarotene (tazorac)?
ReplyDeleteMore, more, more!
ReplyDelete22 and just begin enveloped in adult acne after surviving my teen years intact has not been fun.
But this series has been fab and given me a lot of hope in fixing it! Thanks Caroline and Dr Sam xxx
Is skin anti-aging something you could go to your GP for or would retin-a only be available on private prescriptions perhaps though a dermatologist? I feel like my GP would tell me to do one and show me the door.
ReplyDeleteme too!
DeleteAre there any BHA alternatives to salicylic acid, to which I am allergic?
ReplyDeletebetaine salicylate is the common alternative for salicylic acid. it's commonly used in Korean skin care/exfoliant products and milder than salicylic acid.
DeleteHello Caroline, thank you very much! It would be nice if you could talk about PCOS skin.
ReplyDeleteThank you both! Any recommendations please for budget retinoids
ReplyDeleteI love the Dr Sam videos! I'm about to embark on Roaccutane and I am terrified. Would love a consultation with Dr Sam.
ReplyDeleteIs Retin-A available on the NHS? I read online that they discontinued it. I'm 24 yrs old and have had some form of acne since 14. Would love to give retin-a a go! I currently have a prescription for Epiduo which as benzoyl peroxide and adapalene (retinoid).
ReplyDeleteDr Sam will hate me as I'm the absolute picker but... do all retinoid crems have that sticky, never absorbing texture combined with that horrible smell? I'm thinking differine in particular but not just. It's a horror to have it on the skin overnight!
ReplyDeleteCan you let us know how long a retinoid cream survives when opened?
In her last video Sam recommended Benzoyl Peroxide- but PanOxyl has discontinued 2.5% and 5%- only 10% is left in stores
ReplyDeleteIs is possible to dilute the 10% to a lower percentage, maybe mix with water or a water based moisturizer? :S xx
But what about people who don't suffer from acne and just want to get a head start on anti aging skincare? Can a 23 year old use retinoids?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Sam's over-the-counter product recommendations would be helpful in these vids xx
Retinoid use during breastfeeding? Yes or No? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteRetinoid use during breastfeeding? Yes or No? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGood morning was wondering do u use differin on its own or do i put my night routine on top great vids with Dr Sam xx
ReplyDeleteSuper interesting! Thanks Caroline and Dr. Sam.
ReplyDeleteCaroline, could you do a post on retinols for anti-aging? Recommended products, how/ how often to use? Over the counter vs prescription etc etc.
I'm a couple of years older than you. Don't have any particular complaints nor many wrinkles. At the moment using SkinCeuticals 1%, but can't manage to use it more then 2-3 times a week (have other serums and oil, obv!). Is this enough?
hey Caroline! Im currently using alpha-h vitamin A. is it safe you use a retinol the same night as an acid toner?
ReplyDeleteGreat series of videos! Having just about got over my oily/acne prone stage - my skin is now dehydrated/combination but covered in scars. Have recently started totally new routine - Ren Clear Calm Clay 3 cleanser, serozinc, Rem Omega 3 serum and Effaclar H moisturiser but after 4 days I seem to have an allergic reaction - my face feels rough and covered in tiny tiny bumps. Any idea which product may be the culprit? Or perhaps just the shock of starting all at once.
ReplyDeleteI got terrible tiny under the skin bumps from using serozinc. I stopped using it and they eventually cleared though it took a while. I started it up again just to see, and they returned with a vengeance. I steer clear now.
DeleteI have used all of those products, and it was the effaclar that gave me the bumps. 3 months later they are almost (dare I say it) gone. :)
DeleteLoving these videos, Caroline & Dr Sam! I try to avoid asking you questions, as I know how busy you are & usually find my answers on other posts, but I have two questions this time...
ReplyDelete1) Is 29 too young to get on the retinoids? Mostly for the ol' hormonal acne & early stages of aging side of things. Have mostly cleared up my skin thanks to reading your blog religiously & keeping my diet in check, but still get the monthly hormonal flare ups.
2) Can I just trot into a pharmacists to buy a low dosage or would I need a prescription?
I'd also love to read a post on retinols!
Caroline
ReplyDeleteWhat was the acid she was talking about that is safe in pregnancy?? newly pregnant with post acne red marks but couldn't quite catch the full name??
Dr Sam referenced Azelaic Acid. It was a bit difficult to hear her in some places in the video but I've heard of that one and it was definitely easier to pick out if you knew what word it might be!

Thank You!
DeleteCan I put face oils over the retinoids?
ReplyDeleteI use Rozex (topical antibiotic for rosacea). Can I use Luna on top, or should Luna be used first?
