Everyone, but especially sensitised skins.

How does it smell?
Without meaning to sound ridiculous, ‘fresh’. Light, slightly floral/spa, but it fades quickly.

How do you use it?
Apply to dry skin, massage through, remove with flannel in the usual fashion.

First cleanse/second cleanse or AM cleanse?
I would do second cleanse or AM cleanse. This is a skin cleanser, not a makeup remover.

Best for winter or summer?
Either.

Does it remove waterproof eye makeup?
No.

How long did I test it for?
On and off for years. Literally.

How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage?
£62.50 for 125ml. Hard to say exactly cost per usage, but if you were using this solely as a second/am cleanse I would guesstimate it to last 6 weeks or more.

What’s the website like?
Great, especially if ‘green’ is your thing. Full of information including inci lists, but very biased to the ‘natural’ approach to skincare, as you would expect.

How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited?
Distribution is getting better in the UK, and Tata is widely available in the USA.

What’s good about it?
If you’re a fan of Tata’s cleansers, my long-time favourites on the market, it’s possible that this one passed you by. It doesn’t shout as loud as the others, it speaks to a quieter audience. I realise I’m making it sound human. I'll move on.
This contains salicylic acid and pink clay, but they're in an aloe vera base, making them feel extremely gentle on the skin. If you have angry skin, reactive skin, or if you have been told you have traditionally 'sensitive' skin, this should possibly be on your radar. Whilst it would remove a small amount of makeup, I would save it as a skin cleanser, not a makeup remover. I always appreciate the addition of clay in a cleanser for days when I want a little more ooomph, and this is no exception.

What’s not so good about it?
Being Tata, it’s not cheap, but that’s otherwise it, it’s a lovely cleanser. It's extremely similar to the Regenerating Cleanser, minus the abrasive element, so if you have that one, maybe skip this one?

Would I purchase/repurchase?
Yes.

Do you need it?
If you can afford it, and you are prone to skin that is constantly annoyed with you, it may be worth you checking it out. If you can afford it.

What to Buy? Tata Harper

Where to start? I've never met a Tata product I didn't like. So good is the choice, that the hardest part for this type of review is singling out individual products.

So as not to go completely overboard, I am limiting myself to one cleanser (OHGODHELPME), and excluding the Rejuvenating Serum that I wrote about last month here, for no other reason than it's in the Hall of Fame, it was in my Cult Beauty Box, it's an obvious choice. So let's assume that's a given.

The Can't Live Without:

OK this has a back story. I mentioned on Twitter a few weeks ago that I was thrilled to find an amazing product that was going into the Hall of Fame the next day, and then it didn't happen. In a nutshell, the juice in this product is phenomenal. The packaging, however, is not appropriate for it. The formula is slightly too 'firm' to be in a tube. I squeezed it so hard that I split the seal on the tube. This needs to be in a pot, or the formula adjusted to lessen the viscosity. But that of course is a concern, because if they mess with it, it may not be the same, and that would be a great shame, as this is a beautiful eye product. The team at Tata are working on a solution.
That aside, it has not stopped me using it. I don't use it as a mask. I apply it on the under-eye area only, and I do not remove it. It softens the skin and plumps out wrinkles almost immediately. It is easily the nicest thing I have used on my eyes in a long time. I will absolutely not be without this when I fly at the end of the month. If I have to, I will take scissors to it, and decant it all into a Muji pot. No problem. If you have a Tata stockist near you, visit them and put some of this on your eyes. It's just WOAH. And it was a lovely surprise. I would never have thought that an eye mask would be so good, but there we are.

Purifying Cleanser is the one I went for in the end. It's one of my first choices for morning cleanse, or the perfect second cleanse in the evening after a particularly 'grimy' day. It's refreshing, feels like a runny clay and wakes up your skin and your mind. More info here. I would avoid this if you're using retin-a creams - I mean prescription strength, not over the counter. They're fine.

Replenishing Nutrient Complex has been on here before, just over a year ago, when this also went in to the Hall of Fame. It is a no-brainer. This is a beautiful, nourishing, serum-oil that has slowly replaced my Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate, which I now find a little too fragranced if my skin is sensitised. It's light, absorbs beautifully and is suitable for all skin types. I carry the rollerball version everywhere when I travel, and for that reason, it is my preferred size.

Hydrating Floral Essence is another no-brainer. Probably, pro-rata, the product I have used the most since discovering this brand. I use it at the spritz stage, so if you are watching your budget, this is one you can pass over for something more affordable such as Serozinc. If however, you have addiction problems when it comes to all things spritz, this is great. It's a mix of aloe vera, sodium hyaluronate, rosewater and gotu kola and gives a light mist as opposed to drenching your face like the shower. Beautiful.

I know I know - another eye cream. But I have used this on and of for years and I love it. Light, penetrates, soothes lines and puffiness and is just generally a really good eye cream. Zero irritation. Lovely.

I love and use both of Tata's moisturisers, but this one pipped the Repairative Moisturiser due to its ability to hydrate really well, absorb perfectly and act as the perfect barrier on top of all the other loveliness underneath. Made for combination/oily/dehydrated skins, but I would happily recommend this and the Replenishing Nutrient Complex to someone with dry skin.

That's the Top Six. Honestly, I could easily pick 5 more. But it's January and I'm showing restraint. ;)

Hall of Fame and the second reveal from the Cult Beauty Box

Choosing one product from Tata Harper for the Hall of Fame is like choosing a favourite child. You could if you really put your mind to it and it all depends on your mood on the day. ;) Calm down. I'm kidding. 

Kind of.

There will undoubtedly be another Tata product in the HOF before too long, but for today, and the box, I went with the Rejuvenating Serum.

How do you use it?/Where to use in your routine?

Apply AM and PM under moisturiser. I take a couple of pumps on to my fingertips, apply all over the face and leave to absorb for a couple of minutes. Moisturiser goes straight on afterwards.

What’s good about it?

This is a great multi-tasking serum for all skins, but especially suited to those of us with a slightly older skin in need of some firming action. It's not quite an iron, but it helps. :)

It is loaded with the usual Tata green ingredients, including narcissus, galactoarabinan, gotu kola, arnica, rosewater, rice berry, elderberry and calendula. All in all, designed to be firming, softening, protective, smoothing, plumping and helping elasticity.

Vogue magazine called it 'life-changing' and Marie Claire magazine awarded it their  Prix D’Excellence de la Beaute award.

What’s not so good about it?

While I'm still not in love with the term 'non-toxic' on the packaging, green brands are huge in the US at the moment and I don't see that wording changing any time soon. I'm looking at the product behind the claim, and for me, it stands up, whether you eat it or not....

Who is it for?
'Oily or problematic skin.' If ever there was proof positive that you can always read beyond the label - whilst this would undoubtedly be a brilliant cleanser for oily/problematic skins, it is also a fabulous product to use first thing in the morning or second cleanse in the evening for all skin types except maybe the extremely sensitive - in which case I would still suggest trying to patch test it/get a sample.

As the UK moves into Spring/Summer I imagine I will use this even more.

If you have acne/combo skin it's a no-brainer. As with all things though - testing/sampling is advisable to any compromised skin.

How do you use it?

Apply to dry skin - massage in, remove with flannel.

First or second/only cleanse?

As above - this is not a makeup remover for me. It would be no good for the eye area. Second cleanse or morning cleanse - if you are a gym-goer, either early moring or after work, you'll love the feel and effect of this.

What's good/not so good about it?

This is a soap-free cleanser that has good, proven clays such as kaolin and montmorillonite along with magnesium aluminum silicate (white clay) alongside fruit enzymes and sugars. Put altogether the mix is a glorious sensation on the skin. 

I love this cleanser. Being completely honest, if you follow me on Instagram you'll see from my daily posts that I literally use something from the Tata Harper range every single day. It's by far my favourite range of the moment. Kate Somerville needs to hurry back to the UK, I'm already sleeping with the enemy. :) 

If I had to stick with one range of cleansers for life, it would be any from the Tata Harper range. They are seriously that good.

The only problem with this range at the moment is the lack of distribution. Some retailers need to wake the hell up.

Hall of Fame - Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex

This post is written to you in the fading midst of a beauty panic. Upon doing research for this post - it became obvious that this product was not listed anywhere on the Tata Harper website and thus, I feared it had been discontinued. I say 'feared', I mean 'actually texted Tata Harper - the Tata Harper - whose number I was given last year when I was supposed to meet up with her and didn't - and said 'PLEASE GOD TELL ME THIS ISN'T DISCONTINUED'.' 

Let me take this opportunity to extend my apologies to Tata and assure her that I don't normally behave in such a manner (I totally do) but you know - skincare panic. What's a girl to do? 

I promise never to do it again.            Maybe.

Suffice to say, had RNC been discontinued, it would have been a tragedy of beauty-esque proportions (for me) as Replenishing Nutrient Complex is going in the Hall of Fame.

What is it?

A super-lightweight oil that actually acts as a serum upon application. It's incredibly light, penetrates extremely easily and can be used in a multitude of ways. It was one of my most-used products last year, so much so that I kept it on my bedside so I could have a sneaky swipe whenever I had the need. 

What's not in it?

This being Tata Harper it's free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic colours or fragrance and sulfates - it's labelled as being completely free of chemicals and synthetic ingredients.

What's in it?

Rosehip mosquetta oil*, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil*, Olea europea (Olive) oil*, Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) kernel oil*, Borago officinalis (Borage) flower*, Medicago sativa (Alfalfa) flower*, Sambucus nigra fruit extract, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) flower*, Arnica montana (Arnica) flower*, Tilia europaea (Linden) leaf & flower*, Daucus carota (Carrot) seed oil, Natural essential oil blend** *Organic ingredients **Fragrances from 100% natural clinical grade essential oils

Who is it for?

It would be all too easy to say 'Anyone with skin'. Alas, that is the case. It's suitable for all skin types but is particularly brilliant for sensitive, dehydrated, acne-scarred, dry skins. See? Pretty much anyone. 

What's good about it?

Everything. It's the best form of rosehip oil used in a serum setting that I've come across. Rosehip oil is a wonderful ingredient but I've noticed that in recent times, a lot of rosehip oils on the market have been really heavy and clogging. (Notable exceptions are this, and Sunday Riley's Isis oil, which is also lush, but used differently.)

Think of this as a multivitamin for the face. It's like a weightless cashmere blanket that you put on either before you go out into the elements or to repair chapped, stressed skin when you come in from the elements. It stabilises, soothes, softens and used under moisturiser gives any skin a beautiful glow.

The rollerball dispenses just enough product to ensure that not too much is used, but enough comes out to do the job.

What's not so good about it?

It's not the easiest to get hold of in the UK if you actually want to play with it first. It's London or nothing. 

There's nothing lacking in the actual product though.

How do you use it?

Roll it all over the forehead, cheeks, across the nose and around the mouth and then massage in. I use it on its own, over moisturiser as a protective layer, under moisturiser for comfort and in the morning or evening. 

Seriously. It's January. And freezing bloody cold in the UK. You need this. It's boiling bloody hot in Australia/other lucky places. You need this too. I bought the rollerball back in the summer and am about a third of the way through it. It should last you ages.

Exfoliating Cleansers and another (slightly ranty) video

Following on from yesterday's skin cleansers video, these products are better suited if you just want a little more 'oomph' from your daily cleansing routine. Equally good if you can't use/don't want to use acids (which unless you have a proper allergy WHY NOT?!).

Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser - Rose clay, apricot seed powder and a plethora of gorgeous waxes make this a beautiful exfoliating cleanser without stripping or any harsh skin-damaging ingredients. This is my current first pick for either an AM cleanse or a fresh-as-a-daisy skin ready for retinols etc in the evening second cleanse. All skin types - extreme rosacea sufferers will need to avoid the cheeks.

Diptyque Multi-Use Exfoliating Clay - this can be used as a mask or a scrub depending on your mood. Marble powder (oo-er) and apricot kernel oil and trace minerals make this a luxurious way of polishing that boat.* Suitable for all skin types. Lovely for breakout-prone skins.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish - I realise I didn't talk about this AT ALL in the video. The mind - it is easily distracted. This one is gentle enough for daily use and is runnier than the others so you need very little. It's oatmeal and shea nut shell powder. Not slice-your-face-open-husks. :) All skin types.

Lush Angels on Bare Skin - this needs to be mixed with water to make a paste, which is then applied all over. Leaves the skin really smooth and soft. Exfoliating agents are ground almond powder and kaolin. Suitable for all skin types.

OSKIA Renaissance Mask - ok so this isn't actually a cleanser, but I once accidentally used it thinking it was something else (it was really early and really dark) and the results were bloody marvellous. Technically you apply this and leave it for up to 20 minutes. In my case you apply it, rub it like you're trying to get that genie out of the lamp, wash off and HeyPrestolookatthatfaceradiance! I'd apologise for abusing it so, but frankly I was so astounded I started trialing all sorts of products in the exact opposite way to the way they were recommended and it was a revelation. Contains MSM (obvs), lactic acid and a whole host of fruit acids. Bloody lovely.

Su-Man Exfoliating Facial Polish - literally contains coffee grains, very gentle but very effective. I can't think about Dragon's Blood without seeing fairy tales and nonsense so can we please just say 'plant extracts'? Su-Man is great ml for £ value compared to a lot of higher priced products. Caffeine is invigorating without over-stimulating.

Skin Cleansers - and a video!

Erm yes so I've been a little absent on the YouTube front. Soz. Work is really busy, kids were on summer holidays, you know how it goes. As I mention in the video - I'm not a 'pro' blogger, I still work (hard!) my 'day job' and obviously that takes priority when time is tight. Anyway - I'm back!

Instead of the usual favourites I went with my current skin cleanser obsessions. Fancied a change!

The cleansers break down as (all links are in the video description box):

Alpha-H Age Delay - love this - have used for a long time but it's still as relevant as when it launched. Suitable for all skin types, washes clean away, no residue. I love using this in the morning.

Amanda Lacey Cleansing Pomade - bliss in a jar. Expensive, but if you can, do. Suitable for all skin types, washes away clean, no residue. This is a second cleanse for me in the evenings, after the gunk has mostly gone.

Lush Ultrabland - a great affordable alternative. I'm sorry, but £10 is affordable to me. There are no cleansing balms available for £1.00 (as I was asked today) that will do the same job. Richer than the others, this needs a couple of goes on the flannel to properly clear but there is no residue, just loveliness. Another good A.M. one.

NUDE Perfect Cleanse Omega Cleansing Jelly - brand new this week and bloody lovely. I've been using it non-stop since I got my mitts on it. It is light enough to use in the mornings or as a second cleanse in the evening and leaves no residue. All skin types.

Su-Man Purifying Cleansing Oil Gel - Brilliant value considering the quality, the ml in the tube and the amount you actually need to use. Especially considering the plethora of extortionate mineral oil cleansers out there. Suitable for all skin types, two goes of the flannel (if you don't emulsify- like awkward me) :) Evening for me.

Tatcha One-Step Camellia Cleansing Oil - beautiful, simple, divine quality oil. Suitable for all skins, massages well, two goes of the flannel for this. You can use a tiny amount of this and still get great massage and cleansing action. this gets used both morning and evening, usually when I want speed as it's 'ready to go'.

The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser - beautiful, luxurious, gives a great massage, slightly heavier on the shea butter content than the others so oily/acne faces can absolutely still use - just make sure you follow with some solid flannel action to remove thoroughly. Don't be scared.

Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser - Rose clay, apricot seed powder and a plethora of gorgeous waxes make this a beautiful exfoliating cleanser without stripping or any harsh skin-damaging ingredients. This is my current first pick for either an AM cleanse or a fresh-as-a-daisy skin ready for retinols etc in the evening second cleanse.
