Pixi Glow Tonic - An Anniversary Giveaway

THEN

Four years ago today, I wrote a post about a product I had come across at a Pixi blogger event. It was called Glow Tonic and it was the first time in a while I'd seen any kind of 'liquid acid' or 'acid toner' (wish I'd trademarked that one at the time) that looked like it would actually work, outside of Biologique Recherche's P50.

Four years later and the Glow Tonic phenomenon has spawned different sizes, varying strengths, and different formats.

To celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the original blog post, Pixi are offering one lucky reader (internationally) a massive Glow Tonic Anniversary Bundle.

To win simply enter via Rafflecopter below as always:

The Prize:

  • A Year's Supply of Glow Tonic**
  • 3 x Glow Tonic To-Go
  • 3 x Glow Peel Pads

  • NOW

    T&Cs:

    • One Winner, One Prize
    • Open Internationally
    • Prize will be sent directly from Pixi
    • Daily entry is available
    • Prize may be substituted due to stock limitations (the ml size of Glow Tonic bottles)

    a Rafflecopter giveaway

    Thanks Pixi! pixibeauty.co.uk/glow-tonic

**To be determined by stock availability - may be split between 100, 250 and 500ml bottles to the level of 1200ml.

PIXI Skintreats Anniversary and the return of Glow Mud Cleanser!

This time last year Pixi launched their Skintreats range to instant sellout success. To celebrate the anniversary they are holding an open event at the Foubert's Place London Flagship on Thursday with all manner of goodies happening.
The main excitement is that Petra, the Founder of Pixi, is coming over for the party. Petra, Amanda, the brilliant team and I will be nagging hanging around between 5pm and 8pm talking all things beauty, Pixi and skincare. There are goodie bags, bubbly and makeovers/mini facials galore. Further details at the bottom of this post.

The return of Hinge and Bracket.

In other news, a Public Service Announcement:

GLOW MUD CLEANSER IS BACK IN STOCK. This is not a drill. ;)

Aside from the obvious Glow Tonic frenzy, this was the standout Hero of the Skintreats range and it has been sold out for what seems like ages.
It's back, and available here: www.pixibeauty.co.uk

    Pixi Skintreats Event
    Thursday 8th September
    5pm - 8pm
    22a Foubert's Place, London

Call 0207 287 7211 to reserve a spot for a makeover/mini facial. (There is no entry feee but they are expected to be very busy slots - I would book if you can.)

    Instagram Update

I know a lot of you aren't on Instagram (you should be, it's brilliant!). But: I spend so much time on there showing products and my routines that I thought I'd try and keep regular updates showing anything beauty-related on here also. I'll use it as a precursor to the reviews that follow the trialling.

Clinique discontinued the Mild Clarifying Lotion and replaced it with the 1.0 Clarifying Lotion. Comparison coming on the blog this week.* It's still alcohol-free, don't panic.

Pixi showed their newness including the already-seen Glow Tonic To-Go and brand new Lash Nourish Makeup Remover Pads.

I used up the goop eye cream and the Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture*. The NeoStrata Smooth Surface Pads and Bionic Face Serum* also work brilliantly.

    Hair:

  • Davines OI All in One Milk is beautiful. Nourishes, softens, smooths. Brilliant.
  • Bumble & Bumble Full Potential is to be used on the scalp to promote hair growth. So far so good.
  • Ouai Hair Oil is new but lush so far. I've loved everything I've tried from this brand.
  • Philip B Russian Amber Imperial Conditioning Creme is beyond prohibitively expensive, and once this one has gone I don't now if I can justify a new one, but for my knackered, broken hair from last year, I was willing to try anything.
  • SHOW Beauty Working Texture Spray is awesomesauce and not new to any of you. Yes, I'm still using it. Probably always will.
  • Time Bomb Strike a Pose hairspray is new, but good.

  • Simple's new cleansing products coming soon.

Omorovicza's beautiful Queen of Hungary Mist is out in a divine Limited Edition bottle.

Hourglass are releasing this insanely gorgeous Surreal Light Palette in time for Christmas. And yes, that is a marble design.

Mask therapy in the form of:

My Spanish travel bag - skincare:

    Spanish SPF:

    Body travel bag for Spain:

    And yesterday's face!

*Reviews coming this week. ADDITION 29.07.16 - Sorry the reviews didn't happen this week, they are in order and next on the blog. When I can breathe.

I sometimes (not always) use affiliate links. If you are happy to click on the link and support this blog in that way, thank you very much. If you would prefer not to, just google the brand and the item, it's all cool. :)
For absolute clarity: I do not use affiliate links on products belonging to brands that I work with on a professional basis.

Mixing up your Cult Beauty Box

I've had quite a few comments/questions from people that purchased the current Cult Beauty Box about how to best mix/match the contents so please forgive a quick post addressed primarily to them.
(Regular service and LOADS of exciting announcements coming. :) EEK)

    AM Cleanse:
You can use either Pixi, Tata or MV Organics as your morning cleanse - all skin types, no issues.
If you want to you can exfoliate with OSKIA as well.  I would cleanse first then exfoliate, then acid. (Not with these DG pads - your normal 'acid' toners.)
    Then you spritz with May.
For sensitive/reddened/annoyed skins you will get the most benefit from using MV Organics for the AM cleanse until it subsides a little. Once you notice a difference you can add in Tata if you want to.

    PM Cleansing:
This is where you can really go to town and mix it up.

Please note: these are suggestions - if you are using the products in a different way and it's working for you, that's brilliant. As always, do what works for you.

    Dry skins:
    • 1st Cleanse - Sonya Dakar on eyes if wearing heavy makeup, then Pixi or Tata
    • 2nd Cleanse - Tata or MV Organics
    • Exfoliate if you want to with OSKIA
    • Pads - twice a week - alternate with your normal acids
    • Spritz with May

    Dehydrated skins:

    For three days:
    • Use Sonya on eyes if applicable, then double cleanse with Tata
    • Pads - twice a week - otherwise alternate with your normal acids
    • Spritz liberally - Jasmine Garden is massively hydrating and wonderful under your serums and moisturisers
    On day four:
    • Sonya if needed, then either Pixi or Tata for makeup/SPF removal
    • Exfoliate with OSKIA
    • Follow with one of the Dennis Gross pads
    • Spritz with May
    • Serum etc....
Continue using any of the products after day four.

    Sensitive/Rosacea skins:

    • 1st Cleanse - Sonya/Tata
    • 2nd Cleanse - MV Organics
    • Dennis Gross Pads twice a week are fine on sensitive skins. The products aren't heavily acidic, they're anti-ageing.
    • Spritz liberally with Jasmine Garden - and keep it close by throughout the day

Once skin feels calmer, introduce Pixi as a 1st Cleanse on a rotating basis with the others.

    Oily/Combination Skins:

All of the cleansers can be used in the ways above on oily/combination skins. The only exception is Pixi, if you have open, active acne, it will possibly be aggravated trying to remove with the cloths. You'll knock heads off and cause bleeding if you're too rough, same as with any oilier balm.
If you have spots that haven't come to a head or are past their 'angry' stage, you're good to go.

I hope that helps, but feel free to leave any comments below and I'll try and get back to you in a speedy fashion.

And as an aside, and in answer to your questions, yes Cult Beauty have their Goodie Bag promotion on at the moment and yes the Box is included in the promotion. The Goodie Bag is added automatically into your basket at checkout.

The Cult Beauty Box is available here: www.cultbeauty.co.uk/caroline-hirons

    Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser

    What is it?
'This active yet gentle cleanser with 5% glycolic acid exfoliates to reveal a glowing, healthier-looking skintone.'
    It's a clay cleanser.

    Who is it for?
All skin types except the most sensitive - it does contain glycolic acid.

    What’s in it?
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Diatomaceous Earth, Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Glycolate, Lauroamphocarboxyglycinate and Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Squalane, Anthemis Nobilis Flower (Chamomile) Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Leaf/Root Extract, Hexylene Glycol (and) Fructose (and) Glucose (and) Sucrose (and) Urea (and) Dextrin (and) Alanine (and) Glutamic Acid (and) Aspartic Acid (and) Hexyl Nicotinate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Corylus Avellana (Hazelnut) Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin, Guar Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citric Acid

    Possibly acne/allergy/troubling for some ingredients?
glycolic acid - although that is rather the point :)
    fragrance - essential oil based - non-synthetic

    Natural? Organic? Man made? Vegan?
    Both

    Tested on animals/sold in China?
    No/No

    What's not in it?
    mineral oil
    SLS

    How do you use it?
This is definitely a second PM cleanse or a morning cleanse. OR a less-frequent mask for skins that need a little ooomph.
    Either:
Apply a small amount (10p or a quarter for US readers) to dry skin - (the pack says damp skin but I prefer dry), massage in and remove with a warm flannel
    Or:
Massage in to dry skin and leave for a few minutes - they clay starts to gently harden and it literally turns into a clay mask - which you then remove with a warm flannel

*A reader just asked me on twitter why you would need this if you have the Glow Mud Mask - the mask is a proper heavy-duty, clay/bentonite mask that is great for impurities and general mask-like duties that does not contain glycolic acid.
The cleanser is a cleanser that contains glycolic acid and clay to give it extra oomph.
One is a cleanser that you can use as a quick mask. One is a proper mask.

    What’s good about it?
This has the potential to be a cult product for Pixi. Think Ceramic Slip, except more clay, not foamy and much more affordable.
It does have a little kick - due to the glycolic, so if you don't like that feeling then it's not for you. It's not however, strong.
I use on those days when you want more of a deeper cleanse, or days when I have breakouts.

What’s not so good about it?
Not much so far - you couldn't use it around the eyes, but then that's pretty obvious.

Where to use in your routine?
    AM or second cleanse PM.

    Similar products?
    Ceramic Slip - Sunday Riley
    Glam Glow Super Cleanse

    Sizes available and prices?
    £18.00 for 135ml available from www.pixibeauty.co.uk/glow-mud-cleanser

This just in: tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at 8pm, during Alison Young's Beauty Night in, Pixi are launching on QVC UK.

Tune in to see what delights await you dear reader.

In the meantime, we can neither confirm or deny rumours that one or both of these women will be present.

    OH.

One thing's for sure. This week's vlog will be interesting. :)

*Pixi are one of my business clients. But they're on here because I want you to know about the availability on QVC, not because they pay for special treatment on the blog. I don't do that. As you know.

No ticket is necessary. Just turn up on the day. Pixi have extended the hours to enable those of you that want to come before work or during lunch etc to experience the event.

    Where?
    Pixi Beauty

    London W1F 7PW

    When?
    Thursday 10th September 10am - 8pm.

    Glow Tonic hits Target!

Thanks Pixi. This made me smile.

GOOD NEW AMERICA! From this weekend you can pick up Pixi's Glow Tonic in 1500 Target stores nationwide.

U.S. Customers are getting an exclusive 100ml size - the UK has to wait until next year for this size.

I hope our American skincare obsessives love it as much as we do!

    Available here: www.target.com/PixiGlowTonic for $15.00

*Pixi are on of my clients. But let's be honest, if I didn't tell ou lovely US readers that you could get it in Target you'd give me a hard time. ;)
