Full service on the blog won't be around for a couple of days as I spent most of the last two days in hospital with cellulitis*. Never had it before, and I'm not in a rush to experience it again thank you.
I was rushed in because the symptoms are the same as deep vein thrombosis. Redness, swelling, burning to the touch etc - so with two 11-hour flights coming up before the end of the month at least it's not that.
We had no idea where it could have come from - I had only been working, hadn't been in any parks, hadn't been bitten to my knowledge - until Mr Hirons headed home from A&E at 5am on Sunday morning to find a black spider waiting for him on my side of the bed. It crawled over to say 'Hello' to him too.
So that's nice. *tries not to irrationally burn the bed and put it on stilts*
So if you'll bear with me, I am still publishing another hint about the Cult Beauty Box tomorrow before the big reveal, but it means I have had to postpone filming my Q&A and a planned chat with Dr Sam. GAH. I'll be back in a jif. It'll be like you never got rid of me. :)
Me on bedrest = caged animal. I'm around. Just can't type a lot!
*I caught it very early. It looks nothing like the images on Google. Don't do it to yourselves. *bleaches eyes*
Caroline, just take care of yourself.... Get well, please.. First you, then the rest. We will be here, waiting for you.... And say hello to your spider...
ReplyDeleteGet well Caroline x
ReplyDeletecellulitis can start from the tiniest scratch! My friend got it from scratching his head and taking the top off a tiny little spot!
ReplyDeleteOoh, nasty -- glad you caught it early though. Naughty spider.
ReplyDeleteMany get well wishes, and questions whether any junior Hirons has yet been instructed in the art of facial massage?! If not, now seems a good time....Mo xx

Get well soon xx
Kudos to catching it early! Some patients wait much too long before they come in. Did they mark the the area of the cellulitis to track its receding or spread? If not get a pen or a marker and do so. Very important to gauge how the anti-biotics are doing. Cellulitis can creep in whenever the acid mantle is compromised (which I know you know :) ). Glad it isn't DVT as it could become a Pulmonary Embolus. Do you wear compression stockings when you fly? I recommend it to all adults and elderly for any flights over a few hours long and anyone who has a risk of developing DVTs.
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline, so sorry you're not well. I got Cellulitus on my gap year a couple of years ago- I had a cut on my foot that I ignored for two months and it just got more an more infected.
ReplyDeleteGood you caught it early! Get well soon, if it helps- the meds I took worked very quickly, they did make me feel a little bit rough, but all was fine.
I hope you feel better and rest as much as you can!

WORST. POSSIBLE. NIGHTMARE. #aracnophobic
ReplyDeleteCellulitis is nasty! The Mr had it a few years ago (probably from an invisible bite too) and went from mild flu-like symptoms to full-on shaking and teeth chattering in a matter of hours with the cellulitis marching up his leg at an alarming speed! And of course it was the beginning of a bank holiday weekend so a night in A&E beckoned. Happy days! Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteI think my fear of spiders is totally rational!! Feel better Caroline!
