I enjoy reading your blog but find it incresingly irrelevant-like reading a high end fashion magazine. You obviously have acess to and can afford very high end skin products. Most of us can't and I am sure there are lower priced brands (Olay, neutrogena) etc. that have excellent products. Any chance you could research into lines that are more affordable for those of us who just make ends meet but want to take good care of our skin? Also it would be great of you could talk about the skin concerns of those of us over 50..I know you are not there yet yourself but I am sure many of your readers and clients are. Thanks for reading!
I don't know whether to be offended or complimented to be honest (I'm not sure why you would read something that is irrelevant - although I don't mind the comparison to a magazine - in some ways...?!) - and I have always used skincare that I would class moderate to expensive. Even when times were hard - and trust me - there have been many. The Body Shop, Neal's Yard, Una Brennan, La Roche Posay, Avene are just a few of the lines that I would consider affordable and have blogged about often.
Here's another thought, anon -- Caroline refers to ingredients quite often (and if she has a quibble with a particular item, she'll mention it) -- so I use her buckets of skin wisdom as a tool to help become more ingredient-educated.....that way, when I'm in the drugstore (budget firmly in mind!) I'll be more savvy about the ingredients in the affordable stuff I decide to buy. I consider being an educated consumer as useful a tool as being a wealthy one :) And in that regard -- Caroline's recommendations are invaluable, even if I can't afford that La Prairie toner :)
In defence of 'anonymous' I do get what she is trying to say... Just as people browse Vogue knowing they can't and won't be able to afford the high-end clothing, sometimes it can feel the same way about the expensive products on this blog. Having said that, as Caroline points out, there are posts that feature cheaper products. I would just throw in a reminder that a lot of the people that read this are teenagers/young adults/students, people who wouldn't spend 50 quid on a handbag or a moisturiser. For the sake of those readers it'd be genuinely really interesting to know if there are cheaper products that work well (i.e. cleansers/moisturisers/toners under 15 quid). That said, I think you do a great job Caroline and don't want to negate the work you're doing. All the best, Daisy
Hi Caroline. This doesn't really relate to this post - sorry - but I was just wondering how often should you use a face mask a week? I like to use different ones but I never know whether to use more than one a week, a night etc.. Thank you x

In all honesty if something doesn't live up to expectations it doesn't make it this far. Sometimes I do a follow up post clarifying something if I've changed my mind... :)
So we can assume that all the products in these photos have the Hirons stamp of approval? Have been eyeing up that MV Rose Booster, but not sure whether it will be suitable for my acne-prone/dehydrated skin type. All in all though, a great 2013 round-up
Hi Caroline, Do you have any suggestion for a good eye cream in the mid 20s age? I am thinking about La Mer concentrate since I have a bit of a dark circle. Also, I have a sensitive/dry skin, do I still need an exfoliating toner like the Clarins one? Thanks! :)
