This review is shamefully overdue inasmuch as I have had the cleanser for a while and for some stoopid reason hadn't picked it up. Remedied!
JustBe is a brand from Scotland developed by Aromatherapist Gail Brydon and includes everything from cleansers to toners *dances jig* to body cushions for aching parts (bums in my case) and: WAITFORIT - CANDLES. There are even spa treatments. *books next flight to Edinburgh*
Ingredients:
Coconut Oil, Coconut Solid, Beeswax, Jojoba Oil, Coco Glucoside, Vitamin E, Geranium Oil and Petitgrain Oil
Suitable for all skin types and the essential oils are not in at a ridiculously high strength so you should be fine if you have sensitivities. The smell is extremely subtle.
This is one of the nicest cleansing balms I have ever used. I know you know how many cleansing balms I have used in my lifetime. It's that good. And it's not too expensive. It's 30 pounds* for 60ml. It comes with a muslin cloth but let's pass over that. :)
Highly recommended.

*my keyboard has stopped letting me use the pound sign. I am 2 steps away from throwing it out the window.
I'm obsessed with cleansing balms ever since you've mentioned the one by Emma Hardie. How do they compare? I'm intrigued, as with everything you recommend really ...

I need this! Right now!

I was waiting for JustBe to get a mention. Gail taught me in pre-blended aromatherapy last year - lovely lady with equally lovely products!
ReplyDeleteIs it bad to use muslin cloths? Does anybody know Mrs Hirons' opinion on that?
ReplyDeleteI just prefer a flannel!
DeleteYou converted me from muslin to flannel. So all though muslins I had been stashing are now retasked as cleaning cloths.
DeleteCaroline, have you heard of Garden of Wisdom? I am interested to know your opinion on their Hyaluronic Acid och Mandelic Acid serums.
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline, have total baby brain, does 'skin' cleanse' mean the first cleanse, or the second one?! Would you recommend a nice cleanser to compliment this one? (for either first or second, sorry I'm babbling!)...many thanks :)
ReplyDeleteWord of warning to those with acne prone skin - no way in holy hell would I let this anywhere near my acne prone skin. Coconut oil is a HUGE no no. I made the mistake of using a cleanser with it in it a few months ago and I'm still recovering from that cystic breakout :(
ReplyDeleteHi Anon. Depends on the person, the product formulation and the skin. :)
DeleteThis balm sounds great, I'll be giving it a go.
ReplyDeleteI am currently looking for a new cleansing balm/cream, so might check this one, it looks so nice and I love the ingredients! I have a weak spot for skin care with geranium oil...Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline,
ReplyDeleteI've NEVER used a cleansing balm before, (I guess you could call me a cleansing balm 'virgin') & having only recently discovered you, in all your wonderfulness and wisdom (I know... WHERE HAVE I BEEN right?? I've decided to take the plunge. I was wondering what cleansing balm you would recommend for dry skin? This one or the EH? Any budget 'Caroline Approved' cleansing balms would also be GREATLY appreciated, as I'm ashamed to say, I would NEVER be able to afford either of them directly from the shops, which is where eBay becomes my BEST friend ;)

Hi Hannah,
DeleteEH is amazing but it's definitely on the pricier side. If I were you, I'd go for the Merumaya cleansing balm as it's £14.50 for 100ml, works really well on any skin type and doesn't dry/break me out. You can get it from John Lewis (or get them to deliver to your nearest Waitrose which is what I normally do - I'm on my 5th tube).
Hope this helps :) x
Loving it ;-) would love it if you could check out my Summer Look Book xo

Hi Caroline! Not sure if this is the right place to ask but...I am looking for a simple, hydrating night cream. I am 30, with what can be dry but also sensitive skin (alcohol, high essential oils) with hormonal spots. I usually balm cleanse, normal cleanse, acid tone and then put Pai Rosehip oil on but my skin just then feels a bit tight. However, I am looking for a product that is high quality and not full of nasties - but whenever I look at 'organic' they have heaps of essential oils and then a lot of high-street (incl REN) have alcohol. I use the Pai Rose day cream during the day and find this sits on my skin nicely - do you know of an equivalent that would be good for the evening? Or should I find a more hydrating serum/oil? (someone at MV Organics told me not to wear cream at night.....)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
RMS beauty oil has no essential oils added, totally organic and the blend is proprietary with buriti, tamanu; it is really nice and very pure. Can often be bought 20% off skinstore.com and other online retailers making the $74 retail a little more palatable. But it literally takes only 3 tiny drops to cover the face and neck and will last a looong time. Strange smell but you get used to it. Makes you glow.
DeleteThanks for the tip Hannah, very much appreciated!
DeleteLove how simple the ingredients are, seems like a wonderful product!

Delighted to be associated with Gail and stock many of her products including the cleansing balm. We also have a range of Just Be Signature treatments and rituals.
ReplyDeleteI remember you said Elemebtal Herbology's cleansing balm was slightly pricey at £30 for 75ml. Does that still stand or do you think the results from this one warrant the higher price (£ for ml)?
ReplyDelete£30 for basically coconut oil and essential oil sounds ludicrous to me! Thanks for making me aware of the brand though, I'm into natural skincare with minimal ingredients since using all sorts of rubbish when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline!
ReplyDeleteI remember you mentioning the brand "fresh" not long ago, I can't remember which product you recommended and google isn't helping! was it the sugar lip balm?
Calling all Lady Hirons fans!
ReplyDeleteI live in France and am looking for a site that does international shipping for products like Pixiglow, P50, Hydropeptide and Skinceuticals. Especially Skinceuticals.
I WILL SEND YOU MY ETERNAL PERSONAL GRATITUDE AND LOTS OF SUNSHINE!
Thanks so much everyone!!!
Manuela xxxx
PS. Hi Carolie. You rock!
Mauela, look at a website called "Skinmedix" for Skinceuticals. Amazing value and international shipping. You can read up on them and see how and why they manage to charge such low prices for the products. I have ordered from them often and they are totally reliable and authentic. I'm based in Ireland. Hope this helps. Michelle x
DeleteThat's a huge help Michelle - thanks so much!
DeleteHi Caroline! Thank you so much for the heaps and heaps of info that has truly taking me out the dark when it comes to skincare, I'm very grateful. I have one quick question - if you can.. Is La Roche Posay an effective toner? Suitable alternative to Clarins doux exfoliant? Thank you so much if you get the chance to reply <3 K.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm so glad I found your site....very informative. What products, for an African American, would you recommend for uneven skin tone? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteCoconut solids? Does it mean it contains bits and pieces of real coconut?
ReplyDeletewould love for you to recommend a cleansing balm that is available here in asia? and a morning cleanser as well :) thank you!
ReplyDeleteis the Clinique one or Body shop ok? thanks so much!!
