What’s good about it?
Well, in essence, it works. Pretty simple really. The second ingredient is lactic acid, long considered the best for treating surface 'bumps' as it works on the top of the epidermis. A bit like peeling away the layers of a sausage roll. Nice image I know. There are other items in the range, but this is the one I would probably use the most often.
This is only advised for the body, they're working on products for the face and children.
What’s not so good about it?
It's £27.50 for 200ml, but if you are someone who suffers/has suffered with KP, that won't be your first concern, you'll just want rid. And having said that, most of you will only use this on isolated parts of your body, upper arms for example, so it will last a lot longer than a normal body lotion.
Ameliorate Body Lotion is £27.50 for 200ml and available here from Cult Beauty and AmeliorateSkincare.com
funny I was just looking at this today as I have KP on the back of my arms (and knees a bit). However it has drastically improved since I started glycolic acid toning and wiping the back of my arms with with the pad after my face. I might invest in this too though to try and completely blitz them :-)
ReplyDeleteOhhh I was thinking about getting this for ages but ended up purchasing something from PC a couple of days ago :( Do you think this is comparable or better than the PC Resist Weightless Body Treatment (2% BHA)??
ReplyDeleteI have had great luck with the PC Resist Body Treatment. Worked perfectly.
DeleteHi Caroline, I have really bad KP (all over arms, thighs, back). I use paula's choice KP treatment which smoothes things out over time but does nothing for the red/purple colour. Is this product the same or different to the Paula's choice one? Just wondering if I should give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI used Derma doctor's KP Duty which worked really well and the color seemed to go away after a time. Hope this helps!
DeleteDo you rate this more effective than the Clarins body serum? That worked wonders for the back of my arms.
ReplyDeleteThe Beauty Bloss
Clarins although beautiful did nothing for me!
DeleteSo this isn't available readily in Oz and while I wait for my dear nephew to bring some back from his travels I've been using Neostrata Lotion Plus. It's working! Obviously nothing is going to 'cure' it but it's improved it significantly. x
ReplyDeleteThey also sell it at escentual.com and they have 20% off until the 19th this month. The big size is out of stock, but you can get a smaller one (100ml) but also order the big one with the discount, and they will ship it when it gets back in stock. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember Dr. Sam Bunting recommending this on her channel. Chicken skin is something I have always suffered from--add to that eczema in a couple of areas like the shins. Will give this a try. :)
ReplyDeleteGave this stuff a whizz after having pretty bad KP on my arms and legs - got through two tubes but unfortunately didn't see any change at all. My skin felt lovely (in between the bumps!) but sadly it did nothing for the bump's bumpiness or appearance. But! Have had success using the Clarins Satin Smooth lotion, that stuff is the bomb :D
ReplyDeleteAny recommendations for best product/s for a four year old with severe Keratosis Pilaris on the backs of her arms? I only care about soothing any itching.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was that age I used to get e45 on prescription, purely to soothe and comfort. I used it for years and obviously it's totally safe
DeleteI gifted that one to my sister, who suffers from KP, but she didn't found it to be working. I am not sure whether she applied it regularly or not though.

I've always had chicken skin on my upper arms and recently, because of a surgery, I've had to use Lipikar Baume AP+ by La Roche Posay, to super hydrate my skin because I've had a severe allergy to the bandages (yes bandaid glue give me bigger problem than a 50 stiches scar). Anyway, an unexpected side effect has been the complete disappearance of my chicken skin on my upper arms ! So maybe people suffering from this should try this, it's cheaper, around 15£ for ml
ReplyDeleteLipikar Baume also did wonders for my 5 year olds eczema, so i can second it's effectiveness :)
DeleteI used to have lots of KP bumps but not much redness on my upper arms but it's got a lot better over the years on its own. It also looks better after I stopped constantly picking at the bumps.
ReplyDeleteMy calves have both bumps and redness and there are bumps sparingly all over my legs. I pick at them when I'm anxious and they take a lot longer to heal than on the arms. I've tried moisturisers with a high percentage of urea, I've done a few treatments with 60% glycolic acid (can't even feel it on calves) but not consistently. I don't really care about KP that much, same with cellulite. I think that these kinds of creams help with only very mild KP. If they stuck some acid in a Vaseline lotion (it's not an expensive ingredient by far) I'd be all over it because why not? Listen up, Vaseline!
Actually vaseline have put lactic acid (8.6%) in one of their body lotion in my country (indonesia). It's called vaseline complete care.
DeleteAnother excellent one for this condition is Lac Hydrin 12 Cream. Works wonders !
ReplyDeleteCaroline would this work for ingrown hairs on legs caused by epilating (can't get the hang of it!)? I tried skin doctors ingrown go but it stings like hell and leaves red bumps and just doesn't work x
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline,
ReplyDeleteI have Keratosis Pilaris on my face which I hate as it is quite red and I already flush easily as it is. The bumps are also quite obvious and I've had people ask me what's wrong with my cheeks in the past due to it. Would this cream work on my face? Or are there other things I could be using that would help? I am currently using alpha-h liquid gold every 3 nights and we'll as cleansing twice a day and using a moisturiser every morning and night. Any advice at all would be massively appreciated, I'm just so fed up with hating feeling like I can't go out without putting foundation on.
Just wanted to say thank you for posting about this!!! I had been hunting for ages for something to help with my kp (which affects my arms, chest, neck and shins) as it was getting really bad and this lotion has helped so much. Within a few of days of using it I have seen drastic improvement, the redness has gone down and my skin is softer and smoother. I can't tell you how thankful I am for this!! Thanks Caroline!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWas excited to hear about this as I have loved with KP all my life (I'm 42). I bought the big tube & used religiously but sadly it didn't make any difference for me. It may be that it works for people who don't already manage with lots of moisturising & gentle exfoliation - or maybe I was just unlucky. Hey ho.
