Ah good people of the interwebs. Thanks for all the tweets/messages asking after me. I'm here! I really am. There's absolutely nothing wrong, I just have a lot of work on. I'm not saying 'I'm busy!', we're all freaking busy. I'm just over here working hard outside of the blog.
Videos will be back.
The blog will be more regular - like a good bowel.
Instagram is my spiritual home despite their attempts to bugger it completely.
I'm in the States this week for a flying visit so keep an eye for lots of Snapchat and Insta activity.
Do you prefer Instagram stories or Snapchat? As an aside, I don't think I have the energy to do both.
Anyway, watch this space, stay tuned etc... lots of fun stuff coming up.
Let me know what US brands you want me to review. I already have The Glossier. All over it Mama.
I'm off to hit Target, Duane Reade, CVS, Ulta, Old Navy, Walgreens and Sephora. My personal home planets.
*Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments - I hope you'll forgive me if I don't respond to all of you individually.
Personally, I would prefer Instagram (Frankly, I do not fully understand Snapchat) Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule! Cheer from Argentina!
ReplyDeleteMuch much prefer Snapchat - it just feels more organic and natural - I particularly dislike it when people take videos on snapchat to use the filters, but then post them on stories - just post them on snapchat! Love all your content though - on both insta and snap.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you back and that there's nothing wrong! Will eagerly look for you on Instagram as you, Stephanie Nicole, and Tophcam are the only three for which I have post notifications turned on. I'm throwing my vote in for Instagram over Snapchat :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so interested in hearing your thoughts on Glossier. I've bought almost all of it and sometimes feel like a chump for doing so.
ReplyDeleteInstagram stories 'cause it's just easier when I'm already on instagram and don't have to switch apps. Plus, stories is more user friendly (and instagram is my home planet too) ;)
ReplyDeleteDYING that you're in NJ - so close, yet so far away!
ReplyDeleteUS brands I'd LOVE you to weigh in on:
* Milk
* Ursa Major
* Sonia Kashuk
* Dr. Jart
* Glamglow
* belif
* May Coop
* Too Cool For School
* love & beauty by Forever 21 (their $1 sheet masks have been very good to my face - shockingly! - and I can't find any red flags on the inci list)
(I know some of those are Asian, but I don't know how accessible they are in the UK - they're in Sephora, though.)
MASSIVELY SECOND 'MILK'.
DeletePlz bring this to the UK via the Caroline effect - could see these products fitting in quite nicely with Cult Beauty's offering (providing they are not, err, shite)
Can you guys confirm who Milk is? Is it the Australian skin care brand? milkandco.com.au ? Because thats a VERY mediocre brand sold a cheap supermarkets, but I can't find any other web searches for Milk...
DeleteMilk is a line by 'creative collective' Milk Studios, which is also where a bunch of fashion shoots and shows take place. Check out milkmakeup dot com. :)
DeleteI don't have snap chat and don't get the appeal. I'm instagram all the way.
ReplyDeleteSO happy to see you back!! Make videos and blogs on your thoughts old Old Navy, and Flower makeup, Nyx, etc -
ReplyDeleteI love hearing your hair product opinions - have you tried any Living Proof or the new Stemm from Deciem? Not US exclusives but I'm curious nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteLove Living Proof but its spendy, haven't used Stemm x
DeleteInstagram please!
ReplyDeleteInstagram for sure!
ReplyDeleteFresh, especially the Seaberry Oil - it's at Sephora. Burt's Bees. I vote Instagram.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNo preference as long as there is more Caroline in my life! Also, I'm so excited about the return of vlogs!
ReplyDeleteNatural beauty/skincare haul? I'm particularly interested in hearing your thoughts on HANNES DOTTIR, OLIO E OSSO, LILFOX, LAKE + SKYE, HERBIVORE BOTANICALS (I find everything but the lip balm quite awful but everyone else seems to disagree), MUN... Credo and CAP beauty are all wonderful places for finding these brands if you are in New York.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, and please consider reviewing Drunk Elephant as well! Thanks =)
ReplyDeleteInstagram all the way. Good to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteNice to read you again. Instagram please! And about the brands: Alba Botanica and Pacifica. I've been using their products for a while and would love to know what you have to say.
ReplyDeleteI second Alba Botanica and my vote goes to instagram :)
DeleteGlad you're doing well! We've missed you! I vote for Instagram stories.
ReplyDeleteFor the love of god... Mrs. Hirons, how can you be in Jersey & I'm only 20 minutes away?!! If I hop in the car & make my way through the tubes I can be in Jersey City in 20 minutes! I'm devastated, seriously my world has come to a crashing end. LOL I'd love to meet you and you should really do a meet-up... any chance? Tell one of those brands that have all my money to host you! Love you Caroline! ~Susanne xoxo
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Snapchat. I'll watch you wherever you choose to post, but I prefer Snapchat. Just please, please don't post the same thing on both of them! 😬
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to hear your thoughts and opinions Caroline. I don't do/understand Snapchat so I would really hope you would go with Instagram. I think I joined after changes were made so don't know what I'm missing...but still love it. Busy is good, but sometimes...x

ReplyDeleteSnapchat is great. I loved your snaps from NJ, esp. of the hot sauces. Would you please review some of the new skincare items from e.l.f.?
ReplyDeleteGlad you are alive and well. Hope your trip to the US is good. I prefer Instagram. Have no idea about Snapchat and I'm not interested. I only have so many hours of the day to waste on-line.
ReplyDeleteInstagram please don't no anything about snapchat 😂
ReplyDeleteInstagram all the way!
ReplyDeleteInstagram please I don't know how to snapchat. I will get there oneday!!!!
ReplyDeleteInstagram stories please ...never got my head around snapchat

ReplyDeleteInstagram please 😊 X
ReplyDeleteKorres and Skin Inc. (Found at Sephora) please. And a vote for Instagram.
ReplyDeleteYes,2nd this Skin, Inc -- would love your thoughts on this. And, I have no preference. Old school - website is great 4 me. not a fan of snapchat, and instagram is meh.
DeleteOld school, all the way.
DeleteKorres and Skin Inc. both found at Sephora.
ReplyDeleteAlso another vote for Instagram.
I was thinking about you this morning while watching my You Tube videos while getting ready. I much prefer Instaram, I cannot get on with Snapchat. Glad all is well and you're just busy, busy, busy!!
ReplyDeleteInstagram stories! I haven't been able to figure out snapchat yet. I think I just lack the will. I second the request for Drunk Elephant reviews. Always nice to see you whenever you post.
ReplyDeleteInstagram, and Mad Hippie's vitamin C serum (you can find it in the Vitamin Shoppe.)
ReplyDeleteOoh I second the request for the review of the mad hippies vitamin c serum! Pretty please and thank you!
DeleteI vote snapchat.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a review on Nurse Jamie products. Not sure if that is a strictly American brand, but it's a new one on my radar.
Instagram Please!
ReplyDeleteSnapchat forever! Instagram stories take an age to load and are so low quality! Loving your snapchsts atm xx
ReplyDeleteDrunk Elephant please! Would love to hear your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThe market is so flooded with serums, which is great, but it's really hard to distinguish the real deal from the hype.
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stay and I do hope that someone has the good sense to offer you a "proper" cup of tea this time. :)
No review requests, but as I don't "Snap" and refuse to update IG (no ads or "stories" for me, if I can help it) I do hope you'll carry on posting in the traditional IG space. It's true that they've all but ruined it, but it's the only social media platform I use, having deleted my Facebook account years ago. I do have twitter, but as that's become a space for trolls, misogynists, and incessant mansplaining, I rarely log in anymore.
I'm looking forward to the return of your videos. Safe travels!
AGREED. Hate Twitter most of the time.
DeletePlease review Salma Hayek's Nuance line! x
ReplyDeleteInstagram, please. Sometimes I can't check in for a few days and I find it easier to go there, even if it's a few spare minutes when I'm on the computer.
ReplyDeleteDrunk Elephant, please. I prefer Instagram as I do not have Snapchat.
ReplyDeleteInstagram please for me!! Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteInstagram please Caroline.

I think personality you should focus more on your blog and not other social media platforms. The blog is the main reason people visit your other social media accounts, without your blog nobody would be visiting them! It just seems your blog is your last thought, everything goes before it.
ReplyDeletefocus in life whats important
I do Gary. I focus on my family first, my work that feeds my family second, and then the blog/vlogs. The reason I post to Instagram/Snapchat is because it's quick and take no time, unlike the blog and videos. It's far from my last thought, I refuse to just stick any old crap up here, I want it to be good content. I'd rather not post than just post a press release.
DeleteInstagram - I'm too old to Snapchat lol!
ReplyDeleteI vote Instagram.
ReplyDeleteWould love your thoughts on Drunk Elephant.
Thanks, CH!
I prefer Snapchat, but it seems to be slowly dying. As I cant do both either I do my Snapchats, save them and upload them to Instagram stories as well. That way I have them everywhere and still get the nice spa chat filters.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
Caroline I so adore you, Instagram the snap is too hard to figure out I dropped out.
ReplyDeleteInstagram has my vote. No reviews to request as I'm so busy reading and viewing everything you've already done. Thank you! I'm obsessed with skincare now, and I tell my friends and family they have you to blame - in a good way. Enjoy your visit, and let me know if you're ever in Chicago!
ReplyDeleteInstagram please. New items from Paula's Choice, Drunk Elephant, ELF skincare and makeup, Pacifica, Sonya Kashuk, Mad Hippie vit C, Mineral Fusion, Gabriel, ZuZu Luxe, best and worst of Neuteogena. And more with Ruth! Thanks Caroline!
ReplyDeleteCan You review some Asian brands Caroline?? I would love to know your opinion about Cosrx, Su:m37, May Coop. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMore Instagram please xx
ReplyDeleteLove all your posts! Would definitely prefer Instagram. Hate the snapchat interface and just never open it... so if you chose Instagram at least I'd get to see all your posts :) :)
ReplyDeleteTata Harper... I love the oil cleanser from your cult beauty box....its perfect for old tired dehydrated tired skin x
ReplyDeletePleeeeeease weigh in on too faceds new macaron pallet ( ulta), the Lorac mega pro 3 ( also ulta) and the new tarteist collection?!
ReplyDeleteI know they're Swiss-based, but I'd love your thoughts on Weleda products! They're available in Target, CVS and Whole Foods. Interested on your thoughts on Glossier! They're hit-and-miss for me. Thank you ma'am!
ReplyDeleteInstagram please! Have fun in the US :)
ReplyDeleteWould love you to review Drunk Elephant, especially the vitamin C serum. Hope you enjoy your trip! And I much prefer Instagram, can't really work Snapchat out!

ReplyDeleteI personally prefer Snapchat, but I will follow you anywhere! (On social media :) ) Also, would love to hear your thoughts on Boscia. Thank you Caroline, enjoy your time in the States!
ReplyDeleteInstagram, please and thank-you! It's hard for me to keep up with Snapchat.
ReplyDeleteWe miss you, come back soon! Snapchat is much better!
ReplyDeleteDrunk Elephant and glamglow plz! :)
IG. I don't have SC. Would rather not have to upload it, but would, for you. Have an awesome time Stateside.
ReplyDeleteInstagram please & thank you, I don't use anything else. Oh and the regular IG if at all possible, I think the "stories" are a complete waste of time.
ReplyDeleteSnapchat! People tend to me more boring on instagram where as snapchat feels like a mini vlog. Side note, really miss your vlogs!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear all us well Caroline.
ReplyDeleteInstagram would be my choice never really got to terms with snapchat use. Instagram is so much easier

I don't know if you'll make a trip to Whole Foods (they've really updated their beauty sections recently), but I love the Andalou Naturals brand you can find there! They have an eye-roll worthy fruit stem cell thing going on which is just ehhh, but the products themselves are so nice. My favorite line is the vitamin c one, their creamy cleanser is so nice as a second cleanse and it's really affordable (the whole brand is)!
ReplyDeleteInstagram please
ReplyDeleteInstagram stories over Snapchat!
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Drunk Elephant please
ReplyDeleteIrrelevant question here, what are your thoughts on lavender oil? Just read quite a surprising (surprising because it's so widely used in oils, tonics and other skincare) info about the damaging effects of lavender oil on Paula's Choice:
ReplyDeleteResearch indicates that components of lavender, specifically linalool, can be cytotoxic, which means that topical application causes skin-cell death (Source: Cell Proliferation, June 2004, pages 221–229). Lavender leaves contain camphor, which is a known skin irritant. Because the fragrance constituents in lavender oil oxidize when exposed to air, lavender oil is a pro-oxidant, and this enhanced oxidation increases its irritancy on skin (Source: Contact Dermatitis, September 2008, pages 143–150). Lavender oil is the most potent form, and even small amounts of it (0.25% or less) are problematic. Although it's fine as an aromatherapy agent for inhalation or relaxation, it is a must to avoid in skin-care products. (Sources: Psychiatry Research, February 2007, pages 89–96; and www.naturaldatabase.com)
Thanks in advance ×××
PC is obsessed with a few things, lavender being one of them. They also hate open packaging and any fragrance whatsoever in anything. I don't mind lavender personally, and for every report/research you find negating it's value, you'll find one saying it's fine. x
Deleteinstagram, miss your vlogs <3, Would love to hear about skin medica and drunk elephant
ReplyDeleteCaroline, could you review some products from Neostrata brand? It is semi American-Canadian from myunderstanding, ideally Canadian range please.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip and safe flights.
PS I'm an IG follower and don't have memry on my phone to install Snapchat (and no desire to be honest)
NeoStrata is a great brand. I use it in facials. x
DeleteTarget now sells products from Beautycounter. I've purchased from them directly online (great stuff!!) and would love to see how the Beautycounter for Target line compares. I purchased The Cleansing Balm and Cream Exfoliator. So far really digging them both. They were sold out of the Nourishing Face Oil, but excited to try this when it's back in stock. Safe Travels. Enjoy your trip to the States!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't buy them sorry. I thought they were over-priced for what they were. x
DeleteI would love to hear your thoughts on some of the natural brands sold at places like Whole Foods in the US.
ReplyDeleteAndalou Naturals
Nourish Organic
Weleda
Derma-e
Kensington Apothecary
Trilogy
Aubrey Organics
Jason Naturals
Avalon Organics
Burts Bees
Acure
Aura Cacia (Facial care oils)
Alba Botanica
Mineral Fusion
Pacifica
Evan Healy
Dr. Hauschka
Everyone (E.O.)
Nice list!

ReplyDeletei have an odd question. i was just wondering how to store my acid toners since they are very expensive i am concerned that the function is lessened when stored in my very warm heated bathroom. is it better to store them in a cooler place than that maybe?
excuse my english, i am a non native
would be great if youd answer,

I keep them in my bedroom, the only thing in my bathroom is a few cleansers, the oil ones are outside the bathroom.

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear all is well! Have a safe and lovely trip. I would vote Instagram as I have no idea when it comes to Snapchat...I feel I should have been born at least 15 years earlier to understand it! Take care xx
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline! I was wondering if you or your readers had any recommendations on how to tighten/plump up facial skin after weight loss. I have lost nearly 70 lbs in 8 months and my neck/former double chin area and jaw line need some help. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Well done! I'm afraid not Christina. Short of surgery/botox/filler. But SO much better for your health! x
